Agbedi, Ebikake, Turner, two others win PDP Reps tickets in Bayelsa


Hon. Frederick Agbedi has been declared the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primaries for the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency.

Agbedi, who polled 49 votes, defeated his closest rival Hon. Tolu Amatu, current Chairman of Bayelsa State Sanitation, who got 11 votes.

Other aspirants are Alex Dumbo with 10 votes, Hon. Bikes Etifa got 8 votes, while the youngest of them Comrade Perekeme Owoupele Jeremiah got 2 votes.

In Ogbia Federal Constituency, the incumbent Chairman of Ogbia Local Government Council, Hon. Ebiyun Turner, won the ticket of the party for the constituency.

Turner defeated three others to emerge as the candidate of the party.

The winner, Ebiyun Turner polled a total of 16 votes to beat his closest rival Hon. Meitama Obodor who had 12 votes while Iworiso Markson had 7 votes, and the incumbent lawmaker Hon. Fred Obua, had 6 votes.

In Nembe/Brass Federal Constituency, the only woman amongst all the contestants and a former Commissioner for Transportation in the state, Hon. Marie Ebikake, was declared the winner of the contest.

Ebikake, got 51 votes to beat her closest rival Hon. Jonathan Obuibite, who got 19 votes, and a former lawmaker in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Sam Ateke, polled 1 vote.

At the Yenagoa Federal Constituency, a member of the State House Assembly, Hon. Oboku Oforji won with 74 votes as against his opponents Ogbo Okolovie who scored five votes and Romanus Lot scoring zero vote.

At the Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Engr. Rodney Ambaiowei scored 29 votes to defeat a former State Commissioner, Kurokegha Dorgu popularly known as Kabaka with 24 votes.
