Dickson seeks imortalisation of Ijaw icons


Former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson, has called for the immortalisation of Ijaw heroes saying they made huge sacrifices for the development of the Ijaw nation.

Dickson, who represents the Bayelsa West Senatorial District, spoke in Yenagoa, during a public lecture/symposium in honour of the late Amb. Lawrence Baraebibai Ekpebu.

He was among the dignitaries and speakers at the event with the topic “Education as a Tool for Sustainable Development – A Public Discussion on the Identity of the Niger Deltan.”

The former governor commended the organisers for giving him the opportunity to speak alongside other dignitaries such as King Alfred Diete-Spiff, Prof. Steve Azaiki and Amb. Godknows Boladei Igali,

Dickson also commended the late Ekpebu for returning to his homeland to lecture after attending the best schools in the United States.

He said Diete-Spiff and Prof. Etebu had their major achievements in the educationl sector and recalled that the Federal Government College Odi where the current governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri is an alumnus, was one of their many notable educational projects.
