Cannock Chase will host the major Commonwealth Games mountain biking event on August 3. Before cyclists race down the forest tracks including the much hyped Perry’s Trail, preparations will be made before the competition takes place.
This includes road closures around parts of Cannock Chase Forest as well as parking restrictions to protect residential streets, help residents living in the area to access their homes and reduce spectator parking.
A popular destination for eager cyclists, hikers and walking trail enthusiasts, other attractions include Perry’s Trail created for intermediate riders and a Pedal and Play area for younger cyclists to practice. Families and visitors can also enjoy the Go Ape centre, Superworm activity trail, Grounds Café and Gruffalo sculptures.
2,500 spectators are expected to arrive for the event which takes place from 11:30am-4pm. Here are the restrictions and closures around the site on August 3:

Permit access only roads

Residents living in a controlled parking or permit access only road require a permit, distributed by Staffordshire County Council. You will receive two permits automatically however additional permits must be requested by the council directly.
Parking
There is no parking at Cannock Chase Forest. If you do travel to the site by car there is limited pre-booked parking available off Shooting Butts Road.
Meanwhile if you are an excited spectator heading to the forest, public transport travel is encouraged to reduce traffic around the venue. Find out more information about the site and travel here.
