Niger State Commissioner of Police Ogundele J. Ayodeji has debunked alleged attacks on a military checkpoint at Zuma Rock, and rumours of the influx of bandits into areas around Kagara of Suleja and Rafi local governments of Niger State.
Ayodeji made this known in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, and described the development as fake reports.
The CP stated: “The command unequivocally states that the report is false, untrue and it only exists in the figment of the imagination of mischief makers whose intention is to cause panic in the public domain by originating such a report.”
The commissioner also denied claims that as a result of the alleged influx of bandits via Birnin-Gwari a 24hrs curfew has been placed in Kagara, Rafi LG and equally no report of bandits’ attack at Zuma Rock, Suleja.
According to him: “It is pertinent to state that no curfew of any kind is imposed in Kagara, Rafi LG, there was no report of such emanating from DPO/DSS in Rafi LGA and there was equally no report of bandits attack at Zuma Rock, Suleja.”
Ayodeji urged members of the public to disregard such fabricated reports and continue to go about their lawful business(es) without fear of intimidation, molestation or any form of attack.
The police boss further stated: “The Police and other security agencies in the state are working assiduously towards ensuring a guaranteed secured environment. We urge Nigerlites to equally continue to support the Police and other security agencies with accurate information for prompt intervention.”
