The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has moved its House of Representatives, party primaries from Ogbia main town, the constituency headquarters to Ijaw House in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital over insecurity.

DAILY POST, reported that at least one person identified as a supporter of the PDP, Michael Isaiah, was shot dead in Ogbia Local Government during the conduct of the party’s State House of Assembly primaries in the 24 constituencies of the state.

The incident reportedly occurred during an argument over the authenticity of the delegate list to be used for voting between Richard Ibegu and Jonathan Azibalamawal.

The three aspirants cleared by the party to contest the House of Representatives primaries include Daniel Iworiso, a former Information Commissioner, a two-time serving House of Assembly member, Meitama Obodo, and the current Ogbia Council Chairman, Ebiyun Turner.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Bayelsa State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has congratulated all winners of the State House of Assembly Party primaries conducted on Sunday in the 24 constituencies of the state.

The party described the outcome as a win-win situation for all contestants.

In a statement, signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Ogoli Ebiye, ”the polls were essentially free, fair and credible and by reason of the glorious outcome, PDP Bayelsa has emerged stronger and is set to win all the 24 seats in the forthcoming House of Assembly elections early next year.

The party also observed that though there were minor hitches which led to a slight delay in the commencement of voting in some centres; the electoral process started on schedule and elections were concluded in record time in many centres.

The PDP leadership also condemned in strong terms the gruesome murder of Michael Isaiah in Ogbia town, the venue of Ogbia Constituency 1 primary election, describing the incident as barbaric and painful.

”Party reiterates the Governor’s earlier admonition to all aspirants to refrain from mobilising thugs to Primary election grounds as thugs have no role to play in determining who wins in these Primary elections.
