Barely three minutes after reporting that security agencies in the commercial nerve centre of Aba, Abia State are doing everything possible to ensure peace and tranquility there, as Nnamdi Kanu’s case is coming up at the Federal High Court Abuja, a Journalist has been manhandled with his working tools destroyed by the Police in Aba Abia State.
The Journalist name withheld, who was monitoring compliance to the sit at home order instituted by the the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB had first done a live report along Milverton Road and its environs before heading to Cemetery around Ngwa road to continue his report as required by his office.
Shortly after he went live on that update, a convoy of Police Patrol vans with policemen on patrol appeared from nowhere, stopped and began to molest the Journalist who told them that he is a Journalist covering the sit at home compliance.
In a blinking moment they threw him into one of the patrol vans and took off with some of them resting their footwears on him as they headed to the Area Command of the Nigeria Police
His words,” I was live and ran into them and there was nothing else for me to do. I even identified myself as a Journalist but one of them rained abuses on my person. They damaged one of my phones with their matchete, as they were hitting me. They freely beat and punched me and flogged me with matchete and it was like hell. One of the officers even emerged from his Office and alleged that I am a member of the IPOB and I laughed in my pains”
When they took him to Area Command a handful of the officers and men of the police who know him as a Journalist had to intervene after hearing from him before he walked away to pick up his car where it was parked.
His further words, ” Thank God that my face isn’t strange in the command. One of them quickly rebuked him while another started accusing journalists of causing the troubles in Nigeria. I Have a lot of pals who were with the team that intervened when we got to the Area Command”
