The candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, for Kogi West Senatorial District election in 2023, Sunday Karimi, has lambasted a serving lawmaker, Senator Smart Adeyemi, for attacking Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State.
We gathered that Adeyemi had allegedly posted on his WhatsApp status a cartoon image with the inscription, “bye-bye to Yahoo boy government in Kogi State”.
The comment, according to the former House of Representatives member in Kogi State, is aimed at denigrating Governor Yahaya Bello after his failed presidential ambition.
Karimi, via his campaign organisation, in a statement signed by Olumorin Teddy, said Adeyemi is an ingrate and is known for biting the hands that feed him.
He urged the Senator to retrace his steps before it is too late.
While pointing out that Senator Adeyemi has an over-bloated ego of himself, Karimi averred that, they are not surprised that he is always biting the fingers that fed him.
The statement reads, “Since after the APC Kogi West primary, Senator Smart Adeyemi has blocked our principal from reaching him.
“Hon. Sunday Karimi has made frantic efforts to reach out to the Senator after the APC Primary, but could not have access to him.
“From experience, it has always been known the Senator is a person who has always turned around to bite those who assisted him in his political career. We are not surprised at his actions. His renewed attack on the Governor is a trade-in stock that he is used to.
“We are surprised that he would take and vent his anger on the Governor for no just cause even after helping him to regain all that he lost in 2019 with a return to the National Assembly. The action of the Senator is too petty. Kogi West doesn’t belong to Senator Smart Adeyemi”.
He, however, appealed to Governor Yahaya Bello not to take the attempt to malign him with a pinch of salt, insisting that Kogi West Senatorial District is full of responsible people.
DAILY POST recalled that the current Senator representing Kogi West, Adeyemi, lost the APC ticket to Karimi ahead of the 2023 general election.
